These bean varieties being maintained were bred and developed by breeders at UoN. Evaluation of growth and pod characters were conducted on the beans by KEPHIS inspectors at different dates. Among the growth characters observed by KEPHIS inspectors were conformity of leaf shapes, flower colour, growth habits. On pod evaluation, aspects of pod colour, pod tip shape, pod girth and seed colour were evaluated by the staff. All traits observed were found to conform to the descriptor lists.
Demonstration Plots for Seed Production Courses
Besides breeder bean seeds, the project also grows different crop seeds in demo plots. These demo plots are particularly used to aid practical training for participants for the Seed Production, Seed Quality Assurance and Field Diagnostic courses.
